KEXP’s Song of the Day is a weekday podacast delivering what one of the few truly independent music stations left thinks you should know about. In their own words
KEXP’s newest podcast will feature exclusive in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent musicians that KEXP thinks listeners should hear along with songs from more well-known artists. Delivered daily, Mon-Fri.
In my words this is often times kick ass music that no one else is going to play for you.
Coba Guarango has an infectious Afro-Caribbean dance beat that is sure to please anyone who feels the need to move. While not in English and beyond my lyrical understanding I simply add the male and female voices to the realm of instrumental sounds I can’t properly make either.
Fuego En La Fabrica by Kinky is another one of those songs that you feel as much listen to. The beat had me moving my head and ready for a rendition of Rapper’s Delight after I was finished listening to this little gem.
Never Had Nobody Like You was just a great little tune that had me up and moving as I listened to it.
Layer by the little known Asobi Seksu out of New York is one of these songs that take me back to my younge days of going to the Roller Rink on a friday night trying as much not to fall on my ass as I was to find a girl. Of course there was no Asobi Seksu for me then, and if there was any to be had at the roller rink this is the sort of song that would have been the prelude to that casual sex.
Kite Fight by Hotel is a heavy bass line number with a New Wave feel that was a good follow up song to Layers on Thursday.
All in all these five songs make up an ecclectic playlist that I am proud to listen to again and recommend in my first PodCast Patrol review. Visit KEXP regularly for great music news reviews. Furthermore get the great podcast feed of their Song of The Day.

Welcome to Podcast Patrol, your source for the best podcasts of the week! Our planned launch date is 4-1-09, no fooling either. The team is still being assembled and if you would like to apply please register for an account and join you will be given access to private messages and get the site author newsletter.
The planned format is currently to have five authors making a regular weekly posts Monday through Friday. The weekends will get two posts a day hopefully from four different authors. The additional posts will be added as other team members have time to make them or find something really cool they can’t wait to share. My planned goal is a minimum of fifteen posts a week.
For potential team members our posting format will be as follows. Most posts should run 300 to 500 words in English. Podcasts should also be in English or available in multiple languages. I am not opposed to a category for other than English podcasts if I have enough authors wanting to make sufficient posts for a viable category. Team members will also have the opportunity to include their own banner and or text ads in their posts.
